Effect of Ultraviolet Irradiation on Polystyrene Containing Cephalexin Schiff Bases

چکیده

The scale of production polystyrene has escalated in the recent past order to meet growing demand. As a result, large quantity waste continues be generated along with associated health and environmental problems. One way tackle such problems is lengthen lifetime polystyrene, especially for outdoor applications. Our approach synthesis application new ultraviolet photostabilizers this research focused on four cephalexin Schiff bases. reaction 3-hydroxybenzaldehyde, 4-dimethylaminobenzaldehyde, 4-methoxybenzaldehyde, 4-bromobanzaldehyde under acidic condition afforded corresponding bases high yields. were characterized their surfaces examined. mixed form homogenous blends effectiveness as was explored using different methods. methods included monitoring changes infrared spectra, weight loss, depression molecular weight, surface morphology irradiation. In presence bases, formation carbonyl group fragments, decrease lower when compared pure polystyrene. addition, undesirable appearance dark spots, cracks, roughness minimal irradiated containing Mechanisms by which stabilize against photodegradation have also been suggested.
